Bio:
 
Tom Bisio began his study of the martial arts at age 14, achieving a Black
Belt in Isshin Kempo. He later trained in the Filipino Martial arts for
many years before going on study to Chinese medicine and internal
martial arts. Tom made numerous trips to China and South East Asia
where he studied both medicine and martial arts with many different
masters. Tom has taught martial arts since 1979. During that time, he
apprenticed with Chinese herbalists and experts in acupuncture, qi
gong, Chinese Medical massage (Tui Na) and bonesetting (Zheng
Gu). He went on to become a licensed practitioner of traditional
Chinese medicine and for many years a busy clinic specializing in
trauma, Chinese sports medicine, and orthopedic conditions.
 
Tom is the founder of New York Internal Arts (NYIA) and Internal Arts
International (IAI). These organizations teach and promote the
Chinese Internal Arts of Ba Gua Zhang and Xing Yi Quan and their
connections to both Chinese medicine and the healing arts. NYIA and
IAI offer classes and both live and online seminars in Qi Gong and
Nei Gong, Internal Martial Arts, Daoist Meditation, worldwide. In 2015
he founded Practical Chinese Medicine, in order to create a new
teaching method and curriculum aimed at imparting practical clinical
skills in traditional Chinese medicine.
 
Tom is the author of the popular book, A Tooth From the Tiger’s
Mouth: How to Treat Your Injuries with Powerful Healing Secrets of
the Great Chinese Warriors (Simon and Schuster) Zheng Gu Tui Na:
A Chinese Medical Massage Textbook, which he co-authored with
Frank Butler. He has also written and collaborated on more than 18
books on Ba Gua Zhang, Xing Yi Quan Daoist Meditation and Nei
Gong.
